Dancing with the Stars 20/05/2013 Recap, Review and Analysis
The DWTS Finale week featured four of the best dancers giving it their all on Monday night with eyes set on the title. After watching all the weak dancers eliminated, the Reality Dance competition was bound be special and different from the other episodes we have seen during season 16. Dancing with the Stars Recap - 20/05/2013
As this was a finale Episode of Season 16, the dancers had one last chance to impress the judges as well as the audiences to get one step closer to the crown. On Monday Night each couples had to compete in three rounds of dance which had the following criteria.
- First Round: Couple will take on a new routine that the judges would like to see again.
- Second Round: The Couples will be challenged to a Cha Cha relay.
- Third Round: Supersized Freestyle featuring special effects and unexpected surprises.
- Zendaya and Val - Samba
- Kellie and Derek - Quickstep
- Jacoby and Karina - Jive
- Aly and Mark - Samba
Round One - Judges Choice
Round one of DWTS saw Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff dance off to the Jive. Jacoby looked to be one of the most improved dancers in the show and the same reflected via the judges comments (below) as well.
Len Goodman: “Jacoby I have to say, this judges pitch is about seeing improvement, your foot work was a bit better. You got excited and missed a few steps. But well done!”
Bruno Tonioli: "Jacoby always brings a limitless simply of power. I am telling you missed a beat a few times, but otherwise, great job!”
Carrie Ann: “You brought the swagger, you make people want to dance with you. Your feet were sharper and crisper.”
Score: 27/30
Aly Raisman
Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas danced to the Samba. Their performance looked to be complete with a lot of amazing moves and was fun to watch. The judges commented the following after their performance.
Bruno: “There is no stopping you now, richer and cleaner and slicker than ever. You did everything I asked for.”
Carrie Ann: “What is so fantastic about you, is you have the momentum. You have the swagger and the beautiful lines. I saw improvement!”
Len: “I saw improvement, lots of basic steps and lots of sexy moves. Overall you are on the way up, that was terrific”
Score: 28/30
Kellie Pickler
Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough decided to quickstep which ended in the performance being a very exciting one and looked to be technically very correct and was pleasing to watch. She achieved a perfect score with the following comments from the judges.
Len: ” I tell you that was excitement, changes of rhythm. I tell you what they were as close as a stamp on a letter.”
Bruno: “You are a the southern belle at the ball. Technically it was perfect. You two were super glued together. Fantastic!”
Carrie Ann: “No doubt, congratulations the only thing I was looking for was improvement in body contact and I saw it. Thank you!”
Score: 30/30
Zendaya
Zendaya and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy danced the samba and as always she proved it once again why she is a very strong contender to be the winner of Dancing With the Stars Season 16. Judges had the following to say about her performance
Bruno: “That is what I was talking, that was a perfect combination of blending. You lost nothing it that. Magical!”
Len: “That was eye-popping show stopping Samba. You have only scratched the surface of your talent. That was terrific, well done!”
Bruno: “You are incredibly fierce, you have a natural flamboyance. What your showed tonight was incredible moves. You have a skill that is required from professionals. You just keep getting better!”
Score: 30/30
Round 2 - Cha Cha Relay
All the couples performed to Cha Cha relay after which judges had the following to say about their performance
Len: “With respect to other stars, this is the four I think deserved to be in the finals. You are all winners! Well done!”
Bruno: “The magnificent four! I don’t know what I am going to do!”
Carrie Ann: “Those were four different dances, I don’t know how to decide.”
Standings
- 4th place – 2 points Jacoby
- 3rd place – 3 points
- Aly 2nd place – 4 points
- Kellie 1st place – 5 points – Zendaya
Round 3 - Supersized Freestyle
Jacoby Jones along with Karina Smirnoff did a good job during his performance. He looked to be very enthusiastic and energetic which was great to see and overall his performance was lovely with the judges saying the following
Len: “Jacoby you got the freestyle party started. It was just like a 108 touchdown. Well done, good job!”
Bruno: “I loved the sense of celebration. The energy made you lose the timing a couple of time. It was a joyful dance!”
Carrie Ann: “Unique, it was unique, but I gotta say the freestyle is strategy and you picked the right one. But, I think you got lost in the shuffle, but it was still fun!”
Score: 27/30
Aly Raisman
An incredible performance by Raisman ended with her getting heaps of praises from the judges as listed below.
Bruno: “Incredible, that was futuristic with a touch of exotic. You took an incredible risk. It seemed almost impossible, but you did it.”
Carrie Ann: “That was one of the most amazing routines I have ever seen on DWTS. It was difficult and unique.”
Len: “I loved the conect I thought it had great imagination, I am dubbing you Alexandra the Great!”
Score: 30/30
Kellie Pickler
Kellie Pickler's performance was beautiful, she looked to be so deep into her dance as at one point it looked as though she was in a trance. The judges said the following
Carrie Ann: “Beautiful, Kelly you just bared your soul on the dance floor and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.”
Len: “You were totally immersed into the dance. You drew everyone it.”
Bruno: “You did a dance of spellbound beauty, it touched everyone there. I am sure your touched the nation with that!”
Zendaya
Zendaya once again ended the show on a high with her perfect dancing as she got a perfect score. Her performance was fabulous and i think it will be a very close finish on Tuesday night at the results show.
Len: “Tell you what we got a fabulous cha cha cha. With the kids it was right in sync. It all came together!”
Bruno: “Zendaya, the teen idol, What I love about you is you give everything a unique luminosity. Simply irresistible!”
Carrie Ann: “You brought it home and sealed the deal. You are just divine, my dear!”
