Kolkata Knight Riders were coming back after a loss to the Chennai Super Kings and were looking to get back to their winning ways after defeating the Delhi Daredevils who were themselves trying to get back in the game as they along with the Pune Warriors India have been struggling throughout the tournament.Lets now take a closer look at the batting and bowling reviews of the teams along with the results and scorecard of the match that took place on 01/05/2013.
KKR Batting
The batting of Kolkata Knight riders was very poor today as they lost regular wickets and never got any partnership until the end when Rajat Bhatia and Sumit Narwal got together.The target set by them was well below par but with the form of the Delhi Daredevils i would say they never looked like being out of the game.The only notable highlights of their batting was Rajat Bhatia who came to bat under massive pressure towards the end,he managed to score 26 Runs from 26 Balls.
DD Bowling
Delhi Daredevils bowling was superb to start with but they lost their way very badly towards the end as Ashish Nehra gave 16 runs off the last over which really boosted the Kolkata Knight Riders total.At one stage the way they were bowling it never looked like they would go past 120 but managed to go well beyond that in the end.The only highlights of their bowling was Umesh Yadav who picked up two wickets during the start but he like everyone else in the team leaked a lot of runs towards the end.
DD Batting
When the Delhi Daredevils came into bat they lost two wickets within the first 5 Overs itself which put pressure on them as this was a must win game for them.Sehwag and Jayawardene showed a bit of class to start the innings but their innings came to a close within a space of two overs which put them in a sport of bother.The highlights of their innings was the partnership of Unmukt Chand and David Warner who got them back into the match with their brilliant partnership as Kolkata Knight Riders hope of qualifying for the play off's became more impossible.
KKR Bowling
Kolkata Knight Riders bowling was pretty ordinary expect for the start of the Delhi Daredevils innings.Their fielding was not too great either as they missed an easy catch towards the end that could have possibly changed the course of the match.They definitely don't look like the team who won the IPL last year,I am not sure what they need to do for qualifying from here but what i do know is that it will be very tough for them to be the team they were last year.
