KKR Vs PWI 09/05/2013 - Results,Review and Statistical Highlights
To be honest nothing much was expected out of the match as both the Pune Warriors India as well as the Kolkata Knight Riders are in all probability out of the tournament.Despite the men in violet having an outside chance of getting into the playoffs it looks quite tough which meant none of the teams had anything to lose.Lets now take a closer look at the Batting and bowling performance reviews along with the results of the match that took place on 09/05/2013.
KKR Batting
When the Kolkata Knight Riders came into bat they started off very slow but picked up during the end of the innings. The highlights of their innings was Gautam Gambhhir who made 50 Runs from 44 Balls and RN ten Doeschate who made 31 Runs from 21 Balls.Pune Warriors India's death bowling was disappointing once again.
PWI Bowling
The best part about the Pune Warriors India bowling attack today was that they had decided to go in without Ashok Dinda who had struggled throughout the tournament as he leaked a lot of runs towards the death overs. They bowled well to the Kolkata Knight Riders to start with but despite them not playing Dinda still went for a lot of runs which ended with them having to chase a big target considering it was a slow wicket.
PWI Batting
Pune Warriors India batting started with a controversy where a run out appeal by Jacques Kallis was turned down by the third umpire. He ended up asking the umpire if he was a cheat. What actually happened was that a ball was hit straight by Robin Uthappa after which it looked as though it hit Kallis' boot and went on to hit the stumps at the non strikers end with Aaron Finch clearly out to the crease, since the replays were not conclusive the decision didn't go in favor of Kallis.
Moving on,The best highlights of their batting were Robin uthappa and Angelo Matthews who made 31 and 40 Runs respectively but after watching their wicket fall it looked like reaching the target might be impossible for them. The main reason for their downfall was lack of any partnership.
KKR Bowling
Kolkata Knight Riders bowling performance was good throughout the Pune Warriors India batting innings. They did win the match eventually with Iqbal Abdulla and L Balaji being the pick of their bowlers but i don't think this will matter much now because the odds of them making it through to the playoffs are close to impossible even if they give a few great performances in their remaining matches.
