Statistical Highlights
On 08/06/2013 both England as well as Australia looked to be evenly balanced, The Aussies decided to play the same team they had during the Warm-Up matches while England played without Graeme Swann and Steven Finn (Which was a surprise.) Lets now take a closer look at the batting and bowling performance reviews of each teams.
England Batting and Bowling
England started off quite well as they played cautiously and ensured they saved wickets until the end for a late onslaught. Despite them saving a lot of wickets, they ended with a below par score as they couldn't quite go after the bowling at any point. After losing a lot of wickets towards the end, Thankfully, Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan's partnership took them to a decent total but not a one where you could guarantee the results going in favor of the Englishmen. The best highlights of their batting was Ian Bell who scored 91 runs.
England Bowling was right on the money as the picked up regular wickets and contained the batsmen very well. They never for once allowed the match slip away from their grasp as almost all their bowlers bowled exceeding well, The best highlights of their bowling were James Anderson and Tim Bresnan who picked up regular wickets.
Australia Bowling and Batting
Australia couldn't pick up regular wickets but ensured they kept a check on the scoring rate throughout. Their bowlers bowled the best towards the end of their innings when the time had come for the Englishmen to go after the bowling. The best highlights of their bowling were Clint McKay and James Faulkner who picked up 2 Wickets. The way they bowled they looked to have an equal chance of winning the match today.
Australia's batting was horrible as they never looked to be in the game, it looked as though they were laying a foundation but the way they batted was really poor as they didn't help their middle and lower order batsmen be within striking distance of a target which was well below par. The best highlights of their batting was George Bailey who made a score of 55 Runs.
