England Vs New Zealand 16/06/2013 - Results, Review and Statistical Highlights
The ICC Champions Trophy ODI Cricket match between England and New Zealand on 16/06/2013 at Sophia Garden, Cardiff was another game which was shortened because of a rain interruption. The match kicked off with New Zealand winning the toss and electing to bowl first, I am sure England might have also preferred to bowl first considering more rain was expected during the course of the day. Read on for the complete England Vs New Zealand 16/06/2013 Results along with a review and Statistical Highlights of the match.
Statistical Highlights
England Vs New Zealand was a very important match for both the teams as they were looking to somehow sneak into the semi finals. The weather was not very supportive which was disappointing but the match was fun to watch as it was 24 Overs per side. Lets now take a closer look at the batting and bowling performance reviews along with the results of the match that took place on 16/06/2013.
New Zealand Bowling and Batting
New Zealand's bowling on 16/06/2013 was good in patches as there were times they leaked away more runs than they would have liked. Towards the end however they contained the batsmen very well and picked up regular wickets to ensure the Englishmen didn't run away with the results. They restricted the English Batsmen to a score of 169 all out in 23.3 overs with the best highlights of their bowing being Kyle Mills and Mitchell McClenaghan who picked up 3 and 4 wickets respectively.
NZ's batting was very disappointing as they kept losing regular wickets and never gave themselves a chance to have a good partnership to really threaten the target. Towards the end however Kane Williamson played a fabulous knock and was the best highlights of their innings as he made a score of 67 Runs, Unfortunately the number of runs he made today were not good enough to get his team through . His wicket though was controversial as the replays clearly suggested Stuart Broad had bowled a no ball.
England Batting and Bowling
England's batting on 16/06/2013 was good at times but not throughout the innings. At one stage it looked as though they might end up reaching a score in between 180-200 but towards the end they lost a lot of wickets and made it very difficult for themselves as they bundled out for 169. The best highlights of the batting was Alastair Cook who scored 64.
England's bowling was much better today as they took full advantage of what the pitch had to offer. Almost all their bowlers apart from Tim Bresnan bowled exceptionally well and put pressure on the NZ batsmen. The best highlights of their bowling was James Anderson who picked up 3 wickets.
