ICC Champions Trophy - India Vs Sri Lanka 01/06/2013 Results, Review and Statistical Highlights
The ICC Champions Trophy Warmup cricket match between India and Sri Lanka kicked off with India winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the match was expected to be non consequential, which meant none of the teams had anything to lose. Read on for the complete Performance reviews and Statistical Highlights of the match held on 01/06/2013.
Statistical Highlights
The rules of this match were different compared to any other ODI as each team were allowed to switch between 15 players. It was a perfect setup for the Indians as well as the Sri Lankans to know their flaws and work on it before going into the business end of the tournament. Lets now take a closer look at the batting and bowling reviews of both the teams as it happened on 01/06/2013.
Sri Lanka Batting
Sri Lanka started off brilliantly with their opening partnership as both their openers, Kusal Perera and Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 82 and 84 runs respectively before they retired to allow the remaining batsmen to get a hit. Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Dinesh Chandimal and Thisara Perera also got a chance to gather some form going ahead in the tournament. They managed to score a mammoth total of 333 Runs in their 50 Overs.
India Bowling
Indian Bowling has always been considered to be their weakness, today once again their bowling was very disappointing as they gave away a lot of runs and had no clue of how they could stop Sri Lanka's onslaught. The only positives as far as their bowling was concerned was Amit Mishra and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who i think did a decent job.
Sri Lanka Bowling
The Sri Lankan bowling was up to the mark as they picked up early wickets and contained the Indian batsmen quite well, they had earlier made a huge total of 333, which meant they could afford to do a few experiments on the field. However towards the mid and the end part of the innings when Virat Kohli went Berserk, none of their bowlers were able to handle the heat, which resulted in their downfall. The best highlights of their bowling was Shaminda Erango who bowled quite well, Especially the Yorkers.
Indian Batting
Indian Batting looked quite disappointing to start with as they started off slowly and kept losing regular wickets, they never looked to threaten the target but a partnership between Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli brought some hope as they did quite well in between. After Raina's wicket fell, Dinesh Karthik came out all guns blazing and finally he and Kohli looked to threaten the target as they dominated the bowling quite well to help India reach an almost improbable target. The best highlights of their innings was Virat Kohli who made a score of 144 Runs from 120 Balls and Dinesh Karthik who made 106 Runs of 81 Balls.
