This was the last Warm-up match before the Champions Trophy officially begins on Thursday. Read on for the complete Sri Lanka Vs West Indies 04/06/2013 Results along with a review and Statistical Highlights of the match.
Statistical Highlights
The match was non consequential but West Indies as well as Sri Lanka were coming after a loss from their previous warm-up matches and needed a win so they could go into the tournament with something positive, What made watching this match even more interesting was that neither of the teams would have considered this as a practice match. Lets now take a closer look at the Batting and Bowling performance reviews as it happened today (04/06/2013.)
West Indies Batting and Bowling
West Indies batting efforts on 04/06/2013 was not that great but decent enough as almost all their batsmen got a hit, what was disappointing though was that despite plenty of their batsmen getting starts none of them made a high score. The best highlights of their innings were Darren Bravo and Johnson Charles who made a score of 71 and 58 respectively, Ramnaresh Sarwan also chipped in with a score of 55 to help them boost their score towards 297, this meant that they would need to bowl well to have the results in their favor as chasing down a run rate of 6 per over in modern day cricket is not a huge task.
West Indies picked up wickets when they most required and managed to pull the results in their favor however towards the end of the match they were not able to get rid of the tail enders which worried them for a moment but eventually they held their neve and won the match. The highlights of the West Indies bowling were Ravi Rampaul and the reliant Sunil Narine as they both picked up 2 wickets each.
Sri Lanka Bowling and Batting
After Sri Lanka lost to India in their previous Practice match despite posting a huge total they decided to play Lasith Malinga on 04/06/2013 which was a huge Add on, however his bowling was not too impressive today as he went for a lot of runs and picked up only 1 wicket int he process. The best highlights of their bowling though were Thisara Perera and Shaminda Eranga who picked up two wickets each but the results still looked evenly balanced as they were set a target of 298 to chase.
Sri Lanka's batting was wobbly as they kept losing regular wickets, Kumar Sangakkara held one end up but they kept losing wickets at the other end, Towards the end however the tail enders tried to get them back into the match with Dilhara Lokuhettige and Nuwan Kulasekara playing well but it wasn't good enough as they ended up losing by 17 Runs.
