England Vs New Zealand 1st test match held between 16th to 19/05/2013 started with England winning the toss and electing to bat first. It was a good decision considering that the black caps would need to bat last on a pitch which was bound to become more bowler friendly. England Batting (1st and 2nd Innings)
During the first innings England batting was not very great as the pitch was clearly of assistance to the New Zealand bowlers. Despite the pitch being bowler friendly there were a few who performed brilliantly. The highlights of their innings were Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root who scored 41 and 40 Runs respectively.
The second innings of England's batting was even more poor as the pitch at this time had started to misbehave to an extent. Joe Root was once again impressive but this time he had a partnership with Jonathan Trott as they ended at a score of 71 and 56 Respectively.
New Zealand Bowling (1st and 2nd Innings)
The Kiwis bowled superbly in the first innings as they never allowed any English batsman make a big score, the kiwis picked up regular wickets despite the English batsmen getting starts which was good to see. The highlights of their bowling was Tim Southee and Neil Wagner who picked up 4 and 3 Wickets respectively.
New Zealand Bowling in the second innings was once again highlighted by Tim Southee who this time picked up 6 wickets. Apart from Southee Kane Williamson bowled well as he picked up 2 wickets.
New Zealand Batting (1st and 2nd Innings)
Watching New Zealand bat i was sure there were no problems with the England batsman as their batting was equally poor. They ended up getting bundled out for a score of just 207 despite Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson scoring 66 and 60 Runs respectively.
Their second innings bowling was even more poorer as they bundled out for a score of just 68 and went down without a fight while chasing 239 Runs. Their best batsman was Neil Wagner who made a score of 17.
England Bowling (1st and 2nd Innings)
During the first innings James Anderson and Steven Finn absolutely tomented the New Zealand batting. They ended up picking 5 and 4 wickets respectively and set up the match nicely.
Their second innings bowling was even better as they picked up 10 wickets in just around 23 overs with just james anderson and stuart broad bowling as they picked up 2 and 7 wickets respectively.
