KKR Vs PWI 15/05/2013 - Results, Review and Statistical Highlights
After the Royal Challengers Bangalore lost to the Kings XI Punjab yesterday the doors had opened for the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and the Sunrisers Hyderabad to make it through to the playoffs. That made this match very important for the men in violet while the Pune Warriors India were playing for pride as they were out of the Tournament. Lets now take a closer look at the batting and bowling performance reviews along with the results of the match on 15/05/2013.
PWI Batting
The Pune Warriors India batting was good today with Aaron Finch laying down an excellent platform to the remaining batsman to really capitalize and set a stiff target for the Kolkata Knight Riders. After the wickets of Robin Uthappa and Aaron finch fell, Manoj Pandey and Yuvraj Singh who made 66 and 30 Runs respectively. The highlights of their batting for me however was Aaron Finch who scored 48 to really setup the stage for the remaining batsmen.
KKR Bowling
Kolkata Knight Riders bowling was good in patches but leaked away a lot of runs towards the end. Their bowling has disappointed throughout IPL6 despite having one of the best spinners in the world Sunil Narine in their side. As expected L Balaji went for a lot of runs but it was S Senanayake who was the best highlights of their innings as he gave away less runs while picking up a wicket.
KKR Batting
Kolkata Knight Riders batting was wobbly as they lost early wickets but a partnership between Ryan ten Doeschate and Yusuf Pathan always kept them in the hunt as they played superbly and put pressure on the fielders while converting the ones into twos. Yusuf Pathan tried his best to help them cross the line but was controversially Run out Obstructing the field. Watching the replays it looked as though he intentionally kicked the ball away from the bowler to avoid a run out but he didn't think he cheated, to be honest no one will ever know as its very much possible it was unintentional. The match also saw an argument between Debabrata Das and Rajat Bhatia during a run they took. The match ended up in the favor Pune Warriors India as they ended all hopes of the Men in Violet advancing to the playoffs.
PWI Bowling
Pune Warriors India bowling was good in patches. They picked up early wickets but gave away a lot of runs which left Kolkata Knight Riders within Striking distance of the target but the men in violet faced a huge setback after they lost the wicket of Ryan Ten Doeschate. Despite Yusuf Pathan's heroics towards the end the victory didn't go in their favor.
