MI Vs RR 15/05/2013 - Results, Review and Statistical Highlights
The match between the Mumbai Indians and the Rajasthan Royals was actually a dead rubber as they had already qualified for the playoffs but what both the teams wanted through the match was to end up on the top two teams in the points table which will allow the teams a second shot at the title during the playoffs. Lets now take a closer look at the Batting and Bowling Performance Reviews of each team.
MI Batting
Mumbai Indians batting was superb to start with as they totally tore apart the Rajasthan Royals bowling during the first ten overs, However they lost all their steam during their last ten overs as they ended up losing a lot of wickets which ended up with them getting just a par score. The highlights of their batting was Aditya Tare who scored a brilliant 59 Runs of 37 Balls.
RR Bowling
Watching Rajasthan Royals bowl today reminded me about their match against the Chennai Super Kings, As the way they pulled things back against the Mumbai Indians today looked very similar. Despite giving away a few runs in the first ten overs they pulled things back wonderfully during the last ten. The best highlights of their bowling was James Faulkner and Shane Watson who picked up two wickets.
RR Batting
Rajasthan Royals lost a few wickets too quickly which made their job of chasing down a total which was not very high a little tough. Rahul Dravid, Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson all failed today but as expected a partnership between Stuart Binny and Shane Watson bought them right back into the match. After Watson's wicket Fell Kieron Pollard had an argument with him for some reason which ended up in the contest getting very heated, at one point while Pollard was standing at Longoff he told something to Shane Watson which ended with him leaving the dugout and sitting inside the dressing room. After Watson, out came Brad Hodge who played superbly with his batting Partner Stuart Binny and gave some hope but the results didn't go in their favor towards the end
MI Bowling
Mumbai Indians bowling was top class as they took the top 5 wickets of the Rajasthan Royals cheaply, the way they bowled today it never looked like the visiting team might make a comeback as they lost the match by 14 Runs. The best highlights of their bowling was Mitchell Johnson, Dhawal Kulkarni and Lasith Malinga who picked up 2,2,1 wicket respectively.
