England Vs New Zealand 02/06/2013 Results (2nd ODI)

England Vs New Zealand 02/06/2013 Results

After the Black Caps won the first One day International convincingly, it was time for them to wrap up the three match series to get a well deserved series win before they went in pursuit of the champions trophy,  The England Vs New Zealand 02/06/2013 started with the Kiwis winning the toss and electing to bat first, it looked to be a very positive decision considering their batting was considered very poor at times.  Read on for the Complete Results, Review and Statistical Highlights of the match that took place today (Sunday.)

Statistical Highlights

After the kiwis decided to bat, England might have felt a little on the back foot as they were once again playing without Steven Finn or Stuart Broad, What this meant was that James Anderson needed to once again lead from the front.  Lets now take a closer look at the Batting and Bowling Performance Reviews along with the results of the match as it happened on 02/06/2013.
Cricket

New Zealand Batting

Martin Guptill, Need i say anymore?

After scoring a brilliant century in the 1st ODI, he continued his superb form in the second one day international on 02/06/2013 as well.  What he did today was absolutely incredible, he made a score of 189 Runs from 155 Balls which was the highest ever score by a Kiwi Batsmen.  What was very impressive about his batting was how he carried his innings through and gave it a right momentum to help his team set a somewhat stiff score of 360 for the Englishmen to chase.

England Bowling and Batting

Once again the English bowlers were put to test as a lot was expected off James Anderson, He did deliver as much as he could but at the end of the day its very tough for a single player to help win matches.  He was the best highlights of their bowling as he picked up 2 wickets, Apart from him all the other English bowlers were pretty expensive.

When they came out to bat they had a perfect start but after their openers fell things were only about to get tougher as they tried chasing down as massive target.  Alastair Cook, Ian Bell, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan all got starts but none of them apart from  Jonathan Trott was able to make a good score in order to threaten the target.  Trott was undoubtedly the best highlights of their innings as he made a century.

New Zealand Bowling

The Black Caps Bowling was Wobbly to start with but controlled things quite well as soon as they got the wickets of both the England openers Alastair Cook and Ian Bell.  The Black caps were defending a huge target of 360 runs which meant things were not going to be easy for the Englishmen.  I wouldn't say that they bowled superbly but they did what was required from them as they contained the Englishmen to a score well below the one required to win the three match series 2-0 with one match still to go.
