Game of Thrones 02/06/2013 Recap, Review and Analysis

Game of Thrones finally made its return after two weeks with its Season 3 Episode 9 titled "The rains of Castamere,"  While the two previous Sunday's when this epic fantasy drama series didn't air were no fun, the episode that aired last night (02/06/2013) definitely made up for what we were missing.  Read on for the complete Synopsis and Review of the S3E9 of GOT below but before reading please be advised that a few spoilers will be included.

Game of Thrones 02/06/2013 Recap

The episode kicked off with Robb planning to attack Lannister home of Casterly Rock but in order to do that he required armies who were pledged to Walder Frey. Robb and Caetlyn liked the plan as they moved forward with Robb's Mother giving her a blessing by saying "Show them how it feels to lose what they love."

At Twins, Robb was seen begging for forgiveness from many of Frey's daughter as he broke the vow of marrying either one of them and choosing Talisa instead.  He said "All men should keep their word.  Kings most of all."

Frey acted as though he understood Robb's situation and gave his family and men food and drink inside his home.  Frey also eventually agreed to join the starks as he said "The wine will flow red, and the music will play loud and we'll put the mess behind us."

The Rains of Castamere was a revenge song that was played at the reception hall as a solider locked the doors from outside, time for some good old Game of Thrones action!

While reaching for Roose Bolton's arm Caetlyn soon realized that he was actually wearing armor under his wedding dress.

All hell then broke lose as The Starks were outnumbered and slaughtered.  Robb and Caetlyn were caught in the line of fire as they were struck by arrows but Robb looked to be badly injured as he crawled across the floor to get next to his dying wife.

Eventually, Caetlyn managed to get hold of Frey's wife as she held her hostage with a knife to her throat.  Catelyn conditions to let Frey's wife go was simple, Save Robb's life or see your wife die.

Frey then replied by saying "I'll find another."

What little hope was left of Robb's miraculous escape were then put the rest when Bolton planted his sword through him as he said "The Lannisters send their regards."

Watching all this, Catelyn slit Frey's wife's throat after which  her throat was also slit.  The action was not sealed only indoors as outside Soldiers killed a caged grey wind.

On a positive note, Arya Stark somehow managed to stay alive as she and the hound were not allowed to enter the twins during the entire massacre.  Arya's hope of reuniting with her family died when Ned, Catelyn and Robb were killed during the onslaught.  looking at the episode Arya now looks to be left all alone with her hound.

Apart from the Massacre the other things that happened at Game of Thrones 02/06/2013 was Daario Naharis, Grey Worm and Jorah Mormont defeating Yunkai adding thousands more to their army after which Daario said "The City is yours, my queen."

Another scene showed Jon Snow fighting the other wildings because of his refusal to kill an innocent man who was upon them.  Luckily for Snow, Bran Stark who was at the tower nearby at that moment used his mind control skills to get into the wolf's brain and commanded an attack.
